DIY Sprinkled Waffle Cones

Do anyone else’s kids beg for the huge sprinkled waffle cones at Baskin Robbins? You know the ones that are $3+, which isn’t bad if you have one kid but I have four! So it’s rare that I will be willing drop $20+ on ice cream.:)I’m frugal and that doesn’t sound like a deal. So I decided this summer we would make our own. For less then $6 I had enough to make 12 cones! The kids were so excited and I really think it is more fun when you make stuff yourself!

The chocolate I believe is the key to it all, if you haven’t tried this chocolate then you are seriously missing out. It’s Baker’s Brand Milk Chocolate Microwavable.  This chocolate is amazing, we use it for Strawberries and to be honest they are gone within 15 minutes. The key is to make sure you find the chocolate that is Real Milk Chocolate, once I accidentally grabbed a DARK Chocoalte one and it just wasn’t the same. I can’t say enough good things about this chocolate, it’s amazingly easy. You pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stir in between each 30 seconds and that’s it! For us it usually takes only 60 seconds!! Also if you don’t use it all the first time it reheats like a champ! I have tried many many other chocolates before and non of them even compare, this is all I will ever buy!! No body paid me anything to say this either, I just love it that much!!!  Sometimes it is hard to find, I can usually only get it at Walmart in our town. Amazon does carry it, although you have to buy 8 at a time! You can find it on amazon here: Baker’s Dipping Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, 7-Ounce Microwavable Tubs (Pack of 8)

After the chocolate is melted you simply dip the cones in the chocolate, like so:

Roll it in sprinkles:

The hardest part is waiting for them to set, you could put them in the freezer or fridge and they would set a lot quicker. We let ours sit out on the counter, and when  they were ready we paired them with one of our favorite ice creams right now!! If we did it again we would probably use different sprinkles because some showed up better then others. Although the girls didn’t care, they loved the process and thought it was so cool they had their own Waffle Cones just like Baskin Robbins!!
